For a larger memoir, this is arranged through a series of two to four-hour meetings between the memoirist and Breda over a period of six to 12 months, during which time the writing will progress and is scheduled for completion within 18 months of the start date. For shorter memoirs that focus only on certain aspects or events of the memoirist’s life, a shorter time frame of four to eight months will apply. In the meetings, Breda probes and records the memoirist who is relaying their story, intention and theme. She follows with research, which is usually required to understand the time and place in history that forms the memoirist whose story she is writing. Then she creates a structured narrative of the life in creative prose, whilst retaining the voice of the memoirist and remaining authentic to their experiences.
